The Swish 24/7 window system
has introduced recycled composite material (RCM) reinforcements
for its PVC-U window and door profiles, for both white and
wood grain outer frames and casement window sashes.
Manufactured
from post consumer and post industrial waste, the new
reinforcement provides a closed loop to the recycling process,
offering better thermal efficiency and has a minimum life cycle
of 35 years.
Closed loop recycling is a
huge step forward in plastics recycling and we are right at the
centre of this new technology. PVC-U windows which have reached
the end of their useful life, along with profile off cuts, are
processed into a raw material that can be used to make the
reinforcement for a new PVC-U window.
RCM also has other
benefits as well. The reinforcement has a thermal resistance of
-0.17 w/mk, which is much less than steel or aluminium. This
increases the thermal efficiency of the window, resulting in a
better Window Energy Ratings (WER).
